Hi, I'm a florist and I want to show you how to take care of your fresh flowers now that you've got them home. All you need is something to cut with and some string. I'm using curling ribbon here, but any string or yarn will work. You're going to tie your string around the top of the vase just above the lip. You'll want to tie it loosely so that you don't damage any of your stems. Once you have it tied, lift all of the flowers out of the vase and the string will keep them together.

And wash your vase with soap and water, or choose a new clean vase and fill it with fresh water. If you have flower food, now is a good time to add it. Use your scissors or garden shears to give each stem a fresh cut. Cutting the stems again will help your blooms immensely. Think of it like drinking from a chewed-up straw that's kind of clogged versus a fresh, perfect straw. Remove any foliage that may have slipped down into the waterline or any wilted stems or leaves.

You'll put your flowers back into your container and that's it, you're done.
