Your Besties Deserve Roses This Galentine’s Day

Yes, it’s Galentine’s Day, the one day of the year devoted to the love you have for the women in your life, and you can thank a television show for giving it to you. In 2010 on an episode of NBC’s Parks and Recreation the idea for a day spent celebrating female friendships was born when main character Leslie Knope rounded up her ladies, took them to lunch, gave them gifts and proclaimed February 13 “Galentine’s . . . only the best day of the year.”

Here at The Flower Bucket, we’ve got an idea about what you can give your girl gang to show them how much you care.

Special Flowers To Give For The Whole Year

Here at The Flower Bucket, we’re intimately familiar with all of the ways people give flowers to each other. We’ve seen all of the occasions, all of the approaches, and made all of the arrangements. We’re continually surprised by the imagination and creativity that comes into play when we exchange flowers, both on our part and on our clients’. One concept we love is giving flowers for a year, an approach that makes a lot of sense at the New Year.

Cheer Them Up With Bright Flowers

There’s nothing worse than coming down with something in winter, otherwise known as cold and flu season. Whatever you catch feels like it can drag on for months, and coupled with the fact that it’s colder and bleaker outside, can definitely induce the winter blues.

We here at The Flower Bucket have the perfect cure all, and science supports us. In fact, a number of studies show that flowers help us maintain a positive outlook as well as strong relationships with family and friends. They’ve been associated with lower blood pressure and less use of pain medication if a patient has them in his or her hospital room.

Winter’s Natural Beauty Expressed In Flowers

Sometimes, it can feel a little like winter is never going to end, even if we don’t experience the worst of it here in San Antonio. We yearn for spring’s bright days and bountiful blooms, and the thought of it alone immediately perks us up, pulling us out of the winter blues. The Flower Bucket knows exactly how to bring that feeling into our homes during winter, no matter how long it stretches. The answer is through flowers, but not just any flowers.

2018’s Modern Nature Trend

As we peek ahead to 2018 (after all, it is just around the corner), we here at The Flower Bucket can’t help but pick up a little design inspo from the folks over at International Floral Distributors, who recently released their floral trend report.

Of the four styles identified, we’re highlighting just one, “Incarnation of Earth’s Element.” Yes, it’s a mouthful, but believe us, this floral look is all about organic minimalism.

Win Secret Santa With Flowers

Secret Santa has become the best way to make sure that everyone at work or in a group of friends gets a gift during the holidays, without breaking the bank. And it’s a fun way to gather together for the season, which is why it’s so often included in a holiday party. The premise is simple: participants blind-draw a name and whoever they get is the person they’ll be shopping for that year. They can’t reveal their identity to the giftee, nor will they know the identity of the person buying for them.

The Flower Bucket recognizes that this is a unique gift-giving circumstance. After all, you may not know much about the person you’re buying for, let alone their personal tastes and preferences. That’s where we come in.

Giving Tuesday’s Many Gifts

This November 28, reach deep into your pockets and give. We’re not talking about spending on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, no; Tuesday’s where it’s at. We at The Flower Bucket take this global giving challenge – now in its sixth year of promoting charitable giving across the world – seriously. All year long, we offer a means to benefit some of the San Antonio area’s most deserving institutions.

Magical Arrangements for the Office

How does your workplace like to decorate for the holidays? Poinsettias and wreaths? The tried-and-true Christmas tree you pull out from the back and dust off, year after year?

One of the great joys of the holidays, or so we think here at The Flower Bucket, is rediscovering the decor we love and cherish all over again. That special ornament or candy dish we forgot for a whole year is loved anew. And it’s the same with decorating our workplace; everyone can have fun decking the halls (or their desks) and hanging ornaments on the tree, finding all of those decor items they put up last year. We think a bountiful display of fresh blooms really adds to that spirit.

A Classic Cornucopia for Thanskgiving

One of the most recognizable symbols of Thanksgiving is the cornucopia, a horn-shaped container usually filled with fruit. The cornucopia has been around since antiquity, where it appeared in myths and later in art. Meant to represent the abundance, this emblem was brought to the table and displayed as a sign that the harvest had been fruitful that year.

Today, you’ll see all manner of cornucopia horns – usually baskets – in stores, just waiting for you to stuff them full with seasonal decor. But at The Flower Bucket, we have a better idea. We think the best cornucopias are the ones overflowing with fresh flowers.
